Thailand has longed been an attractive destination for teachers, digital nomads, business owners, and everyone that craves the beauty and splendor of the Southeast Asian paradise. The country's climate, delicious street food, and warm hospitality makes it an irresistible destination. As such, choosen a destination to live in the country on a low budget can be a challenge. That explains why I'm scribbling this guide, which present top five low-cost cities in the country.
Lampang: This historic city is located in the North of Thailand and it is widely known for the use of carriages as a mode of transportation. Nakhon Lampang is a tourist town, although not as popular as its neighbouring counterparts (Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai). The layback lifestyle of this city makes it an ideal place for anyone on a tight budget in the Kingdom. Cost of accommodation in Lampang range form 2500THB to 5500THB per month.
Phitsanulok: Another great city to live cheap in Thailand is Phitsanulok. The Northern city is between Bangkok and Chiangmai, which makes it a perfect location for those regularly craving the bustling and hustling of metropolitant life. Food and accommodation is cheap in this city, which makes it a great location for both shortterm and longterm stay for visitors to the Kingdom.
Udon Thani: Next on the list is Udon Thani-the hidden germ in northeastern Thailand. This city is a huge attraction for cultural enthusiasts due to its rich tapestry of culture, history, natural attraction, and dynamic local nightlife. Udon will definitely suit anyone on a low budget.
Korat: Furthermore, Korat, otherwise known as Nakhon Ratchasima, is another cheap city for anyone on a low budget. Korat, the largest city in Northeastern Thailand has a lot to offer interms of food, housing, and siteseeing. This plethora of lifestyle hugely explains why the city is slowly becoming a preffered location for many visitors to the Kingdom.
Mae Sot: Last on my list of cheap cities to live in Thailand is Mae Sot, a city in western Thailand that shares border with Myanmar. Mae Sot is well known as a trade hub and the presence of burmese migrants and refugees. It also has some great touristic attractions like its Hilltribe Market, Friendship bridge, and Hot Springs in Maekasa. Its definitely a city I will recommend to anyone on a low budget.
